Amino resins

Urea- and melamine-formaldehyde crosslinkers for hard, chemical-resistant finishes.

Amino resins are thermosetting polymers made by reacting an amino compound — typically urea or melamine — with formaldehyde. They are valued for hardness, chemical resistance and fast curing, and serve as key crosslinkers in industrial baking paints alongside alkyd and acrylic binders.

Types & classifications

Urea-formaldehyde (UF)

The largest amino-resin class — highly reactive and economical, used mainly as adhesives for wood-based panels.

Melamine-formaldehyde (MF)

Superior hardness plus wear, heat and moisture resistance — for laminates, moulded tableware and baking-paint crosslinking.

Melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF)

Balances the economy of urea with the moisture resistance of melamine for structural wood adhesives.

Benzoguanamine resins

Specialised grades for high-gloss, chemical-resistant industrial coatings.
