Resins & binders

Polyester resins

Unsaturated and saturated polyesters for composites, coil and powder coatings.

Polyester resins divide into two families: unsaturated polyesters (UPR) — the standard thermosetting liquids behind fibreglass-reinforced plastics — and saturated polyesters, the durable binders behind coil, can and powder coatings.

Types & classifications

Orthophthalic (UPR)

The economical, general-purpose grade for fibreglass repairs and non-structural parts.

Isophthalic (UPR)

A premium grade with superior tensile strength and water and chemical resistance — for marine use and plumbing.

DCPD blends (UPR)

Low shrinkage, low odour and a glossy finish for automotive and sanitary-ware parts.

Saturated polyesters

Linear and branched grades crosslinked with isocyanates or amino resins — for coil, can and powder coatings with excellent weatherability.

Key applications

Marine & composites

Boat hulls, decks and fibreglass-reinforced parts with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio.

Construction

Architectural panels, roofing sheets, skylights and corrosion-resistant tanks and pipes.

Transportation

Lightweight, impact-resistant body parts and interior panels.

Coil & powder coatings

Flexible, hard and weatherable finishes for pre-coated metal, architecture and appliances.
